What is usually normal
- Redness, swelling, warmth, stinging, itching, peeling, and crusting can be expected depending on the laser depth.
- Pinkness can last longer after deeper resurfacing. New skin is delicate and sun-sensitive while it matures.
Cleansing and ointment
- Cleanse only as instructed, usually with clean hands, gentle rinsing, and patting dry with a clean soft towel.
- Keep the treated skin moist with the ointment or product your clinic recommended. Do not pick, scratch, rub, or peel crusts.
- Avoid cotton balls, harsh scrubs, retinoids, acids, fragrance, and active products until the clinic restarts them.
Sun and skin protection
- Avoid direct sun while the skin is healing. Use hats, shade, and clinic-approved sunscreen only when your skin is ready.
- Avoid heat, saunas, hot showers, swimming, heavy sweating, and dusty environments until cleared.
Activity and medicines
- Take antiviral, antibiotic, pain, or skin medicines exactly as prescribed if they were given.
- Keep activity light while the skin is open, crusted, or very inflamed. Resume exercise only when the clinic clears you.
Call the clinic urgently
- Call for increasing pain after the first expected peak, spreading redness, warmth, pus, bad odor, fever, or yellow crusting that worsens.
- Call if you develop grouped blisters or fever-blister-like sores, especially around the mouth.
- Eye pain, vision change, severe swelling around the eyes, or delayed healing beyond the expected window needs urgent review.
Emergency signs
- Seek emergency care now for chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting, severe uncontrolled bleeding, or a fast irregular heartbeat.
- Seek urgent care for new one-sided calf swelling, warmth, redness, or cramping, especially after body or breast surgery.
- After eye surgery or facial fillers, sudden vision change, severe eye pain, or stroke-like symptoms should be treated as an emergency.
